BOVEN DIGOEL – Honorary teachers struggling financially in far-off places are now a common story in the news, which makes it ironic given their status as the backbone of the education system and help in enlightening the young minds of today.
To avoid repeating such incidents, TSE Group rolled out an honorarium program, where payments were directly delivered to three teachers in SDN Persiapan Miri (Miri State Elementary School) in Jair District, Boven Digoel Regency on Wednesday (6/7).
PPA MGT PR’s Deputy General Manager Sutisna handed over the money to Leonila Guhi, Magdalena Bari, and Teda Gembenop, who have long been dedicating their service to Miri Elementary. The ceremony took place in the first school trimester, with the aid reaching 2,700,000 IDR.
“We hope the grant can motivate them at work and be used to its full potential. Distributing honorarium is how we [TSE Group] show attention to Papua’s education sector,” said Sutisna.
The response was enthusiastic; the school saw the program as support for the local education system. “I’d like to thank the company on behalf of the honorary teachers here. The money definitely gives us more passion and motivation to teach,” said Gembenop.
Not only teacher payments, TSE handed out first semester scholarships to 18 clan members across Miri, Inocin, and Asiki (sub)villages who are now in school, from elementary to university levels.
