SOUTH PAPUA – Staple food prices tend to skyrocket ahead of Christmas and New Year, causing much struggle in remote communities as they try meeting daily needs. Many of these households are known to be part of the lower-middle class.
Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group came through with help, mobilizing its subsidiaries PT Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE), PT Berkat Cipta Abadi (BCA), PT Papua Agro Lestari (PAL), and PT Dongin Prabhawa (DP) to customary communities and churches near their operational sites on Thursday (12/14). Officers came with food aid that included rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, sugar, and coffee.
Like in previous years, these basic food packets were given to customary communities, orphans, elders, and churches. This year, 31 churches were made beneficiaries. Kits were delivered in stages to several subvillages in Boven Digoel and Merauke regencies.
Distribution began in Jair District (Asiki, Miri, Tamun Tunas, Getentiri, Naga, and Camp Inochin), continued in Mandobo District (Tanah Merah), Ki District (Ujung Kia), Muting District (Muting), Subur District (Aiwat), Ulilin District (Camp PAL), and ended in Ngguti District (Camp Mam).
“I thank TSE Group for providing us with social aid each year, these are valuable to us,” said Miri subvillage chief Theresia Kinimiarop.
This assistance is part of TSE Group’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) program, which demonstrates company concerns and commitment to helping Papua’s isolated settlements celebrate this Christmas and New Year.
Through this donation, everyone in Indonesia can now enjoy the turn of the year without being weighed down by rising food prices. “We hope these packets are useful for everyone this Christmas and New Year. May blessings come to us all,” said Sutisna, TSE Group representative.
TSE Group is an oil palm plantation company in Papua, which commits to practicing sustainable palm oil governance and keeps innovating to prioritize its health, educational, economic, environmental, and infrastructural responsibilities. (PR)
