BOVEN DIGOEL – Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE) Group headed down to a vegetable farming site in Naga (Sub)village, Jair District, Boven Digoel Regency on Tuesday (4/11) to help local mothers with their first planting. These moms are members of a farmer group that is active in the region.

The company started off by handing over saplings of corn, kangkong (water spinach), cucumber, Brassica varieties, and long beans. Along with the ladies, TSE then did the planting in a 600 m2 community-owned lot.

One of the attending farmers, Martina Butiop, shared with the PR team her joy and expectations for the activity.

“I’m so happy to be involved. We’ll get to see results and also learn how to do efficient, modern farming that doubles harvest and household income,” Martha said with a big smile on her face.

This support is part of TSE Group’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs, which aimed to help nearby communities build a social environment through economic-oriented initiatives. It is also an attempt to maintain local food security.

“With today’s event, I hope this site will be a place where Naga mothers can learn and develop sustainable farming techniques. May economic empowerment programs, like this garden over here, continue to run and benefit the local people,” said TSE Group representative Sutisna.

Besides providing saplings, the company holds regular training sessions that teach time-saving, advanced cultivation methods. The team also encourages farmers to actively garden to reap good harvests, support their household economies, and protect the village’s food security. (Fionny/TSE)
