BOVEN DIGOEL – Among efforts to help the government meet basic healthcare needs, PT Tunas Sawa Erma (TSE)’s clinic rolled out its free door-to-door or mobile physician service at Hobinangge (Sub)village in Ki District, Boven Digoel on Friday (5/26).
Patients were directly served by dr. Inggrid and her medical team. Around 300 residents — a mix of toddlers, school-aged children, adults, and elders — swarmed the (sub)village hall to get their bodies checked and treated.
During the screening process, staff discovered that the adult and aged population is suffering from illnesses like muscle pains (Myalgia) and upper respiratory tract infections (URTI). Meanwhile, diarrhea is commonly found in younger locals.
“Together with mass checkups, this mobile service is a part of our Corporate Social Contribution [CSC] programs that bring complimentary healthcare to rural communities. Here, we do blood pressure tests, diagnose diseases, and provide meds as well as additional vitamins,” dr. Inggrid told the PR team.
They also gave out free toothbrushes and soaps for the children, and in a short session taught proper teeth-cleaning methods as a way to maintain teeth health from an early age.
This public health-oriented activity involves going to far-off settlements in the environs of PT TSE’s area to provide care. It is one way the company can contribute to society, in which it takes up responsibilities concerning health, a basic human need.
“As a Hobinangge local, I’m extremely grateful for the visit. This free service helps us access services that we need but have been very hard to reach,” said (sub)village head Finansius Bovi.
PT TSE is a subsidiary of TSE Group, a palm oil plantation corporation in Papua that commits to practicing sustainable palm oil governance and keeps innovating in an effort to prioritize fulfilling its socioeconomic, environmental, and public health responsibility. (Fionny/TSE)
