Tunas Sawaerma (TSE) business group in association with the Department of Manpower of Papua Provincial Government organizes job training for local people. This training aims to provide the local people with skills and mental preparation to work in various processing plants which belong to TSE.
The first training went on for a month and took place at Training Center (BLK). The training provided by TSE and the Department of Manpower of Papua Provincial Government includes welding, air conditioning (AC), and electrical training.”They live and practice here, after which the trained and certified labors will be stationed in the subsidiaries or companies other than TSE,” said the General Affair Staff, Jimmy Senduk, in Boven Digoel, Papua, on Wednesday (29/12).
Jimmy reveals, the Department of Manpower of Papua Provincial Government has made their company as a local implementation partner of job training in Merauke. Up to now, he adds, it has graduated 41 people, three of them are directly employed and the rest are still continuing the training.
“The training also opens the opportunity for those who want to build their own businesses, all the decisions are in the labors’ hands themselves,” said Jimmy. He states, the Training Center is the contribution of TSE towards the empowerment and economic development of the community. It has been recommended by the Department of Manpower of Papua Provincial Government, so that the trainees can practice it after the training.
“In addition to the job training, there are also internship programs in the palm oil plantations for the vocational and college students around the company,” said Jimmy.Yohanes Thomas, one of the trainees, said that the program was very useful for his life. He said, he used to hunt to make a living every day before, but now he is ready to work at a subsidiary of the TSE with more decent income.
“I attend welding training and I will be stationed in PT PAL Block F. This training helps to improve our lives,” said Yohanes.Ever since TSE came in Papua, they have contributed in increasing the exports and Local Revenue (PAD) of 30-50%. It has provided employment that is able to recruit 10,000 workers, which 31% of them are Papuans.
