MERAUKE – South Papuan-based palm oil plantation PT Berkat Cipta Abadi (PT BCA) runs activities that motivate learners in hard-to-reach communities in Papua. This time, the company took a different approach by hosting a religious-themed event for Harapan Selil Christian Elementary (YPK Harapan Selil) in its operational area in Ulilin District, Merauke.
Held on Friday (9/15), the event had a drawing and coloring contest for first- to third-graders, and a Bible quiz for those in higher grades. PT BCA opted for appealing to local religious beliefs to encourage studying.
That day, the audience looked excited and even more so during the quiz, where they fully concentrated on answering tossup questions and winning prizes prepared by the company team.
TSE’s PR general manager Park Jibae showed up to cheer on the kids. He said he always feels “happy and excited” when it comes to motivating young Papuans.
“It’s important that students attend school if they want to reach their dreams. So we try to come up with programs to help the children here build the drive to learn. I hope everyone can take away a thing or two from today’s activity and develop their own potential,” he said.
Park was accompanied by PT BCA’s manager Kim Taesoo and Tunas Sawa Erma Group (TSE Group)’s deputy general manager Daniel Sim Ayomi.
One audience member, sixth-grader Natalia Tamara Komo, voiced her appreciation. She was grateful the company keeps pushing her and the others to attend school. PT BCA’s visits are always highly awaited for the fun activities and educational support.
